TRAI changes 10 digit phone numbers to 11 digit numbers

   TRAI(Telecom Regulatory Authority of India)

 plans to change your 10 digit mobile number to 11 digit mobile number. 

     As we know population is never stable, it goes on increasing, so 10 digit numbers are not being enough for creating more new phone numbers, as maximum numbers which is possible with 10 digits are getting filled in new phone numbers, which results in lack of new phone numbers in future. So TRAI on recent Friday(29/05/2020) announced the recommendation of changing 10 digit phone numbers to 11 digits, so that it gives more 10 Billion capacity of creating new phone numbers. This plan is named as "Unified Number Plan"

    The 10 digit phone numbers which we are having now, would be added 0 in its first place, to make it as a 11 digit phone number, and the upcoming phone numbers would get any of the digits except 0. TRAI also recommends adding the digit 0 while calling any mobile phone number from Landline. It also recommends the mobile number associated with internet Dongles will also change to 13 digit numbers from 10 digit numbers. 

     So for all these, a time of month could be given by TRAI to Telecom Service Providers like JIO, Airtel, Vodafone etc.
